Flat fees Vs. Interchange Plus: what's the difference?

Interchange Plus is the payment industry's best-kept secret. It allows huge fee savings but is usually available only to large corporations. GoSolo lets you accept payments the same way Meta, Uber, and Netflix do to keep your costs low.

Flat fees Vs. Interchange Plus: what's the difference?

Here's how it works

Interchange Plus pricing means you get the lowest possible interchange rate for each payment. GoSolo passes on the true cost for each payment you take and adds our limited margin to pay for our service.

No hidden fees or surprises.

You only pay for what you process, and that's it.

Here's how it works

What is Interchange Plus pricing?

Most payment providers (like Stripe or PayPal) charge flat fees — for example, 1.5% or 2.75% of every payment. Sounds simple, but they keep the difference.

Interchange Plus is different — and fairer. It splits the fees into two parts.

What is Interchange Plus pricing?

1. The Interchange – the actual cost of the payment

This is what goes to the cardholder’s bank and card network. It includes:

  • Bank fee – usually 0.2–0.3%, depending on the card type

  • Visa/Mastercard fee – for using their systems

  • Processing fee – for securely handling the transaction (we use Adyen for that – same as Uber and Meta)

These fees are capped and unavoidable. Every payment has them.

1. The Interchange – the actual cost of the payment

2. The Plus – GoSolo’s flat, transparent markup

We charge just 0.5% + 20p on top — that’s it. No bundles, no fluff, no inflated margins.

You always know:

  • Where your money goes

  • What you’re paying us for

  • And that you’re keeping more with every transaction

2. The Plus – GoSolo’s flat, transparent markup

Why choose GoSolo + Interchange Plus pricing?

Businesses across various industries will benefit from significant savings by switching to GoSolo’s Interchange Plus model.

  • Transparency. Unlike flat-rate pricing models that bundle all fees into a single rate, Interchange Plus provides a clear breakdown of costs, allowing you to see exactly what you're paying for each transaction.
  • Cost savings. Many businesses find that paying the actual bank and scheme fees plus a fixed markup saves them money compared to flat-rate models, especially as their transaction volume grows.
  • Reliability. GoSolo has partnered with Adyen, the company that processes payments for Netflix, Uber, Spotify and Meta. They are one of the global payment leaders and guarantee the safety and reliability of our payments infrastructure.
